LX200 PEC Access question -
(too old to reply)

We have a 16" lx200. The manual says Smart Drive/PEC are standard to all

models, but "stored in non-volatile memory" and "Activation of Smart
Drive is
automatic and totally transparent to the user".

Does this mean there is no way to access PEC for photo guiding off the
handheld
keypad for this scope? We had hoped to set this scope up for robotic
use but
we are puzzled about how to acess the PEC in the drive, for a user to
make
guiding adjustments?

Any help or commentary appreciated.
Thanks,
Jerry

The guiding corrections, are independant of PEC. PEC, is a tiny 'tweak'
applied to the worm motion, to try to reduce the periodic error. You can
still guide, but hopefully have to do it less. The keypad motion buttons,
autoguider input etc., can still guide the scope, so there is no need to
access the PEC curve. If you want to go 'robotic', then I'd consider
something like PEMPro. This takes multiple PE curves (as many as you
want...), averages them, and can then feed these back to the mount as the
correction over one cycle, so it can be stored as a 'master' PE curve,
getting rid of a lot of the momentary errors that otherwise get
incorrectly included in the PE curve.
